Electrical tape (or insulating tape) is a type of pressure-sensitive tape used to insulate electrical wires and other materials that conduct electricity. It can be made of many plastics, but vinyl is most popular, as it stretches well and gives an effective and long lasting insulation. Heating tape is actually a cord or heat cable with encased electrical wire that when plugged in regulates the temperature around plastic or metal pipes. Electrical tape is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as the backing material, which are coated with rubber pressure-sensitive adhesive. They are resistant to high voltage, fire and weather, commonly designed for connecting separated electrical wires for electrical insulating and protection purposes.
