An electrically conductive adhesive is a glue that is primarily used for electronics. The electric conductivity is caused by a component that makes ca. 80% of the total mass of an electrically conductive adhesive. This conductive component is suspended in a sticky component that holds the electrically conductive adhesive together. The particles of the conductive component are in contact to each other and in this way make electric current possible. Electrical tape (or insulating tape) is a type of pressure-sensitive tape used to insulate electrical wires and other materials that conduct electricity. It can be made of many plastics, but vinyl is most popular, as it stretches well and gives an effective and long lasting insulation. Electrical tape for class H insulation is made of fiberglass cloth. These long-lasting tapes can eliminate the need for screws and mechanical fasteners – while providing for contact grounding and EMI Shielding in the bond line gap/slit. Electrically conductive tape offers high performance bonding and conductive properties in an easy to use, non-messy format. They provide an ideal shielding solution in electronic devices, especially where space and weight reduction is a primary design criterion. Electrically conductive tapes offer a reliable alternative to traditional fixing solutions and eliminate the need for secondary grounding solutions like screws and fasteners. Conductive tapes also offer grounding and shielding qualities and are available in a variety of materials, in a range of thicknesses, as a double coated tape, single coated and transfer tape. Our wide range of electrically conductive tapes is available with Z axis or XYZ axis conductivity. Electrically conductive foam tapes are also available for additional shock absorbing, gap filling and cushioning properties. Electrically Conductive Adhesive Transfer Tape (ECATT) is a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) transfer tape with anisotropic electrical conductivity. The PSA matrix is filled with conductive particles which allow interconnection between substrates through the adhesive thickness (the “Z-axis”) but are spaced far enough apart for the product to be electrically insulating in the plane of the adhesive. The PSA tack properties and lack of any thermal curing make Tape easy to use in assembly operations.
